Born in Berwyn, IL, I was influenced by an older sister who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. My mother noted my interest and talent and enrolled me for one semester where I won an Honorable Mention for a pastel drawing of a polkadot bug. Although I never pursued a formal art education, I have worked my whole life in creative fields, namely as a retail fashion buyer, sales manager, and stylist.

It wasn’t until my marriage and subsequent birth of my son that I began to paint, only this time children’s furniture and accessories where the fantasy world of polkadot creatures emerged again. In 2003, one might say I had a spiritual awakening with a metaphysical church I had joined. As a final project for a class I had taken there, I painted my first image "The Release" onto canvas. The obvious style in which I use today was locked into place at an early age.
